Mexico City 2018

Coyoacán Market

We returned to Mexico City in May, 2018, as three day stopover at the start of our trip to Peru. We kicked off our stay in the city with breakfast at La Cocina de mi Mamá in the Coyoacán Market, and a walk through the bustling market before heading to the Museo Frida Kahlo, a museum we missed on our first visit to the city. Other highlights of the trip included a street food tour with Club Tengo Hambre – four hours and six stops to stop explore Mexico City's incredible street food scene and public markets. Mexico City is one of the best foodie cities in the world, and Club Tengo Hambre's walking tours are great for exploring cantinas, taco carts, market stalls, and other small places that fall off the radar of the city's top restaurant lists, but are equally amazing in their own right. We also enjoyed a variety of excellent meals in restaurants, too, ranging from traditional (Restaurante Nicos) to modern and inventive (Sud 777).

Mexico City remains one of my absolute favorite destinations in the world, and this return trip further solidified that feeling. The culture, cuisine, museums, parks, and walkability of the city make it one of the best urban travel destinations on the planet, and one trip here is never enough.
