Mexico City – December 2016
Our annual post-Christmas trip for 2016 was to Mexico City. Despite its relatively close geographic distance, Mexico City is a destination I had never visited – and prior to this trip, Brian had not visited Mexico at all.
The trip combined exploration of this magnificent city’s parks, museums, and landmarks with the ruins of the ancient cities of Teotihuacan and Tenochtitlan. For nighttime entertainment, there is no shortage of bars and clubs, particularly in the Zona Rosa, and one evening we ventured to Arena México for Lucha Libre. Along the way we dined at several of the city’s most admired restaurants, including Quintonil and Pujol. Mexico City is quickly emerging as a top dining destination, with many outstanding choices to experience modern Mexican cuisine, as well as more traditional fare at well established favorites such as El Cardenal. Our hotel for this stay was the excellent W Mexico City, located in the stylish Polanco neighborhood.
Our first visit to Mexico City will not be our last. Five days was simply not enough to experience all that the city has to offer.
