Tonlé Sap Floating Village
Tonlé Sap, Khmer for "large fresh not salty river," is a large lake and attached river that grows and shrinks seasonally with the rains and floods. The lake is a source of a significant portion of Cambodia’s food; both as a source of fish, but also by growing rice on the floodplain during the dry season. These floating villages are moved around the lake and river, depending on the water levels, and are inhabited by many Vietnamese immigrant fishermen.
